A judge in New Mexico rejected Alec Baldwin's request to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter charge against him in the Rust film set shooting case, where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died in 2021. Prosecutors countered Baldwin's defense arguments of misconduct during grand jury proceedings, accusing him of trying to evade responsibility by providing contradictory statements to law enforcement and workplace safety regulators. Baldwin, who pleaded not guilty and faces up to 18 months in prison, is set to go to trial in July. The incident occurred when Baldwin, during a rehearsal, pointed a gun that discharged, killing Hutchins and injuring the director.
